The cars are about 12-24 inches ( 30-61 cm) long and ride on rubber tires 3-4 inches (7.6 to 10 cm) in diameter. The metal housings are generally made of magnesium and aluminum. Engines are nitro or methanol fueled , with displacements from 0.09 to 0.61 cubic inches ( 1.5 to 10.0 cm3) . Early engines ( prior to 1960 ) had spark ignition systems. Newer engines use glow plugs ignition. The cars are kept at a central point by a steel cable and drive in a circle of 65 feet ( 19.9 m ) in diameter. Was also on pre paths (see archive photo) completed the race.

History:
Bantam Midget racing model cars were developed beginning in the 1920s and '30s and built in delicate handwork . Today there are popular collectors' items .
