Blade is excellent, grip is very good. hilt and metal show some corrosion, scabbard has rust and pitting, a very interesting piece of History! It was issued during World War One and redeployed for World War Two. Japanese WWII swords have become a very desirable military antique. The most popular of these swords is clearly the Samurai sword. However, the Japanese produced various types of swords in addition to that one. The sword featured here is a WWI - WWII Japanese army sword. It was primarily used for parades and similar activities.
With a black, wire-wrapped handle. back portion of the handle is of metal construction. A cherry blossom is located in the center, at either side. The scabbard has a single suspension ring designed to allow the officer to hang the sword from the belt.
The handle is wired wrapped and shows the cherry blossom once again. The wire wrapping remains nicely tight. The wire is a single strand and surrounds a black ebony handle. Nice pebbling covers the spine of the handle.
The scabbard is chromed and shows some tarnishing caused by age. Thanks for looking!
